Lawsuit against Seattle School District

I heard a short piece on NPR tonight about a lawsuit filed against the Seattle School District around the school closure process and decisions. I can't find details anywhere on the web (or on the district web site, of course). Anyone else hear this news? or know where we can find out more?

The community coalition to “Save Our Children/Kids Education Defense” (SHOCKED) fund has been established at Bank of America, Promenade 23 Branch at 23rd and South Jackson Street in Seattle.

The purpose of SHOCKED is to legally or “by any means necessary” address the issues surrounding the closing and merging of seven elementary Seattle Public Schools (SPS) including Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School. A team of community legal experts including Attorneys Lem Howell, consultant; Ron Ward, consultant; Attorney/Professor Rev. Carl Livingston, Jr. and Brenda Little, lead attorney and former general counselor for Seattle Public Schools are drafting the legal strategies.

The coalition is also supported by community based organizations and churches. SPS school closing disparity impact 46% of African American students as opposed to 17% of the majority White students. African American students make up 22% of SPS student enrollment and White students make up over 50% of SPS enrollment. In addition to the legal team, the community oversight committee members are Rev. Patrinell Wright, Rev. Carl Livingston and Chris B. Bennett. Checks/funds to support SHOCKED maybe dropped off at 2600 South Jackson Street or directly deposited at Promenade 23 Branch of Bank of America in the Save Our Children/Kids Education Defense at 23rd & Jackson in Seattle.
