It is evident that a purely technical reading of urban change most often creates social exclusion.
Community Engagement StrategiesKarthikhttp://www.bangthetable.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28765366.post-40532481336701817852016-08-10T11:16:54.545-07:002016-08-10T11:16:54.545-07:00Statewide bargaining holds out a certain kind of p...Statewide bargaining holds out a certain kind of promise.

If the statewide salary formula is done as a base amount with a local cost-of-living multiplier then it could be the path to regular cost of living adjustments in teacher salaries.

The CPI for Seattle as of June 2016 was 256.098. The CPI for Yakima, however, might be more like 210. So two teachers with the same status, one in Seattle and one in Yakima might be paid $51,219 and $42,000. Then, two years from now, when the rates are reviewed, the CPI in Seattle might be 266.444 and Yakima's CPI might be 216.347 so the teachers would get a cost of living adjustments to $53,288 and $43,269.

This would not only be equitable, it would build in the teachers' cost of living adjustments.Charlie Mashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17173903762962067277noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28765366.post-69891025863956698322016-08-05T22:08:20.996-07:002016-08-05T22:08:20.996-07:00As you know, Dorn is suing 7 school districts for ...As you know, Dorn is suing 7 school districts for "illegal use" of levy dollars.
