It seems that an additional cause of the Public Education difficulties, mentioned by Mr. Kuhn, has to do with the instructional materials and practices currently used in most schools. These contribute in a major way to below par student performance. I believe that k-3 improved instruction is key to greater public school success for all children, especially in regard to the closing of opportunity gaps. .... Unfortunately there is little valid research into the effects of most instructional materials and practices. Education Politics decides most school decisions these days.
