Ballots drop this week so look for yours in the mail.  What can you do?  Get out that e-mail list and bravely ask your friends, family and anyone else to give due consideration for the candidates of your choice for School Board.  I find that, like Port Commission, most people are lost on School Board candidates.  Tell your e-mail list who you are voting for and why and ask for their consideration for a vote.  Also to note, the Vote the Moms Facebook page .  Good place for updates on the School Board challengers. I receive the Washington State PTSA Council listservr and found quite a lively (and somewhat tense) back-and-forth over the PTSA support of charter legislation . I can't remember right off-hand if I posted this before but the Washington State PTSA is taking a survey of legislative priorities of parents for education.   The deadline is Sunday, September 25th. 

This is a fairly quick survey and it was interesting to see what they are pushing this year.    It closes on September 18th.  The topics are: early childhood learning school zone signs opportunity gap charters juvenile justice highly capable What is nice is that you do get to see how the survey is going at the end.  When I took it, there were some interesting results as far as charters.  About 32% of people ranked it very important/important, 33.5% were neutral and 34% said not important/insignificant.  If this survey is right, there's work for either side to win that group in the middle. For highly capable, 68% said it was very important/important.  Naturally, this is a small survey of a select group of people so not really valid results.
