Seattle School Board Candidate Forums 2025

Editor's note: I believe there is one other Board candidate forum in October but I am checking one detail.

Just saw this one which is TONIGHT, September 29th at the Montlake Community Center from 6:30 pm to 8 pm. It is a forum for one City Council seat (Nelson v Foster) as well as City Attorney (Davison v Evans). It states that there will be Seattle School Board candidates. So to be clear, this is NOT just a School Board candidate forum.

This event is sponsored by the Capitol Hill Community Council, Eastlake Community Council, and the Seattle Parks Foundation.

As I previously reported the Urban Native Education Alliance and Native Action Network are having a candidate forum on Saturday, October 4th at the North Seattle Community College Auditorium from noon to 2:30 pm. They will be serving a light lunch before the forum which starts at 1 pm.

It would be helpful if you will be there for the lunch to RSVP to UNEWchair@gmail.com.

Then, on Tuesday, October 7th, the Washington Bus Education Fund, in collaboration with the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle, is having a "youth-led Seattle School Board Forum."

The forum will be held at the Columbia City Theater from 5-8 pm. I would think from those hours that there will be something of a meet-and-greet first and then the forum would be from 6-8 pm.

They state that they will be taking questions from attendees -

This is a dialogue, and we encourage students of all ages to be a part of the conversation.

There will be free refreshments.  RSVP at bit.ly/SEAFORUM7

On Tuesday, October 14 from 6:30pm - 8:00 pm,  the Catherine Blaine K-8 PTA will sponsor an event with "a student-focus." Students will co-lead the event along with a moderator.

The program includes a traditional Q&A, a short intermission, and a lively trivia round. Don’t miss this chance to hear from the candidates shaping the future of Seattle Public Schools!

This forum is in-person AND available by Zoom. The forum will include a "speed round" which is always fun and I wonder what the trivia is about.

There was also a forum two months ago at Horizon House, a retirement community, that included School Board candidates. Here's a link to the video at YouTube; SB candidates start at about 1:14:00.  Those in attendance were District 5 Candidates Vivian Song, Janis White, Julissa Sanchez, and Allycea Weil.

I have not yet listened to the answers.
