Talk to Your Kids About Kindness and Tolerance at School

Sometimes saying, "it goes without saying" is not good enough.

Say the following (or your own version) out loud to your children before the start of every school year.

"You don't have to like everyone but you have to be kind and respectful. That starts with not making fun of other kids, especially kids who are not your friends.

Every thought that enters your head does not have to come out your mouth.

Most of all, think of how YOU would feel if someone made fun of you daily."

Via Twitter:

"Aiden Reese was a 15-year-old freshman from Edmond, OK who passed away February 20, 2023 after he committed suicide due to bullying. His mother, Teresa, posted these words on TikTok as a reminder to parents as the new school year begins - “A used backpack carries the same dreams as a new one” - I will never forget this."
