Need Input

Dear Readers, The platform this blog is on is Blogspot.   It is an extremely easy format to use but, as many of you know, it has some real drawbacks.  Therefore we are going to overhaul the blog.  Here's some things I have thought we need: less touchy spam filter a "most read" counter a "lightbox" link so you'd have a window that hovers over the page you are on so you can e-mail us (without opening a new window or leaving the site) a documents area But I wanted input on what would make this an easier and more useful site.  For example, should we list all the topics on the homepage as we have now or have them in a separate link?  A big question is...the name.  Beth Bakeman started the blog when school closures were occurring so hence the "save."  And even though in some ways I feel we are trying to "save" Seattle Schools, we don't want it to sound like a crisis mode.  So, what might be a good name?  One caveat is that this d...

Gentle Readers

Based on some of the comments, I'm thinking that some of you have just joined our readership. Welcome. We do have a few rules and one of them is to please stay on the topic of the thread . This is mostly so that the tags/labels for the threads are accurate. If a thread gets hijacked by another topic, it then confuses/irritates people who are looking for that topic when they read the comments. There are a couple of ways to get new info/topics out there. One is to write to me and ask for a topic thread. Two is to suggest a topic thread in a comment (but not to start one in the middle of another topic). Three, is to wait for Open Thread Friday. Also, if it's breaking news, put it in but only if it's breaking news. I did do an Open Thread Wednesday last week because there was so much going on. Should we have two open thread days a week? I'm open to suggestions. Just as fair warning, I will go thru and eliminate comments that are off-topic. It's okay if it's...

Really, Final Warning

Despite having explained that this blog doesn't accept Anonymous comments, there are still some coming up. Sometimes I can tell that it's someone new to the blog so I give them a one-day pass. But our policy is stated right at " Leave Your Comment " so no more. To be clear, if you write something Anonymously, sooner or later, it will be deleted. Probably sooner. Also, while I don't particularly like signing at the END of the comment, I'll let it go. At least people reading comments will be able to refer back to your comment. Also, hijacking threads. We have also provided for a way for you to let us know about interesting articles or thoughts. The first way is to e-mail me at sss.westbrook@gmail.com . As you may have noticed, I do put up other people's ideas. Sometimes it takes a day or so but I check that address every day in case something burning is in there. The second way is at Open Thread Friday . (Of course, if there is breaking news, su...
