Contests/Scholarships for Students

From the Office of Representative Pramila Jayapal:

Each year, the Congressional Institute sponsors a visual arts competition for high school students nationwide. Winning entries from each congressional district are hung in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol for one year, and the winning student artists will be flown to Washington, D.C. to be recognized at an award ceremony.

Students from Washington’s 7th Congressional District who would like to participate must submit a completed Student Release Form (download it here), and a one-page description of the medium and the background of the piece along with their entry. The art pieces are not required to be framed, only matted. All entries must comply with the competition guidelines. The 2019 entry deadline is May 3rd, 2019.
From UPS/OCA, the Gold Mountain Scholarship:
The purpose of OCA's Gold Mountain Scholarship is to provide more Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) high school students with more financial support and access to higher education.

The Gold Mountain Scholarship is open to all AAPI high school seniors who have been admitted to a college or university and plan to attend in Fall 2019. Applicants must be the first in their family to attend an institution of higher learning.  In order to be eligible, applicants must have a Social Security number or an employment number.

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is Monday, April 15, 2019 at 11:59 PM EST.
