Seattle School Board Candidate Updates - District 4

Bill Campbell

Not much to say here as he has not updated his website with any information since filing. I would assume he's not running a real race.

He has no Facebook presence either.

Gloria Suella Menchaca
Has no website or Facebook presence.

Nadia Goforth
As others have said, it appears she filed but is not running.

So that leaves, as I would have expected, the two top contenders, Laura Marie Rivera and Joe Mizrahi.

Laura Marie Rivera

Here's her website.

It does reference that The Seattle Times endorsed her in 2021; it'll be interesting to see what they say this time.

Rivera is VERY active in her community area as well as supporting other candidates who are running for office.

In addition to running for School Board, Laura Marie is working on her doctorate in Education at Seattle U, "looking at the intersection of Motherhood and Leadership."

Joe Mizrahi

I see from his website that he says "Retain Joe Mizrahi." I find that a bit misleading because he was not elected to the office but appointed. Maybe nit-picking but it is his first run.

He has many endorsements including Rep. Pramila Jayapal, Board President Gina Topp, as well as directors Sarah Clark and Brandon Hersey. Looking at other endorsements, you can see Mizrahi is very connected in King County and the state.

His goals include:
- Setting a clear, sustainable vision for the district's finances, "enrollment challenges," and "securing state funding our schools deserve."

- Defending values. Here he references the Trump regime (he uses the word "administration" but I won't do that).

- Putting Community Voices First. A great thought but HOW will he do that?

I note that the King County Dems endorsed BOTH Rivera and Mizrahi.

This is one of two Board races that appear to have just two contenders (the other being District 7) and the ones I find most compelling.
