Looking for the H1N1 Vaccine?

I've been searching for the H1N1 vaccine for my sons. I found a list of pharmacies (through King Country Health) that list availability. Call ahead if you can to make sure they still have it. The list is updated daily.

(Note: if you are against vaccinations, fine. I just put this here for those who are interested in getting the shot/mist for their child.)

Katterman's in Laurelhurst has 900 mist and 600 injectable doses starting tomorrow (11/11) and Thursday. They will take first come, first served and allow a parent to pay and get a time slot so you don't have stand in line with your children.

Priority for kids and pregnant women so they really want to get those folks immunized first.

You can email them questions: pharmacy@kattermans.com

RBHS vaccinated all the kids, mine included, last week. Carolyn Downs as well as other King County Clinics are supposed to get a supply soon, but you have to be on the list.

They (you know, THEY) are saying that kids need two doses. I don't know how they are managing that, but our pediatrician seems to think they'll have the second dose when the time comes.

Just something to ask about.

/not a doctor, but willing to play one on TV

I am still discouraged about this. I really need vaccination because my toddler has a serious heart problem BUT only flumist is available for non-highrisk adults. But data I saw shows that the mist is not particularly effective in adults. Ho hum. I hope shots are available soon. Kettermans is only giving shots to priority groups: carers of infants, asthma, pregnant women.

My kids were vaccinated at school. On the other hand, I have progressive MS and don't qualify as "high risk."I

7 AM and hundreds of people in line ALREADY according to their Tweeter feed. Guess we'll be waiting for the NEXT round.

Shannon, surely you count as high-risk? I would push for that classification if I were you.

Katterman's is out of vaccine for today (amazing 800 doses GONE in less than 3 hours) but will have another 700 doses tomorrow.

They also mention that there will be a lot more vaccine available in the upcoming weeks.

If you are in a high risk group and get a note from your physician, like a neurologist, you become one of the "at risk" groups and can make appts to get the shot.

We drove up to La Conner in Skagit County to get my son vaccinated. It's a long drive, of course, but no line.

Shannon, UWMC Roosevelt Pediatrics has a limited number of shots for kids under 3. Even if you can't find it for yourself, maybe you can get your son protected.

I just found out, anyone with a compromised immune system is now classified as "high risk." A note from a doctor doesn't hurt.
