I hate to be a pessimist, but I cannot see how Jenny Durkan will be able to make this Tuesday schedule work with anything other than ideal traffic conditions. --If she can control traffic, then she deserved to win by an even wider margin!-- Is each destination just a 5 minute photo-op? I predict either a delayed schedule on Tuesday or a stop that ends up being omitted.

Yes, specially those last two stops. I’m guessing it’s just a photo op.

Stretch goals
I’m thinking she will have staff at different locations; otherwise, it’s just a photo op.

For teachers and parents of IB students (or those considering IB), please consider providing public comment -by 3 pm today- on pending legislation. The proposed language could effectively restrict IB credit granting at public and private WA State colleges. As proposed, colleges could limit credit to scores of 5 or higher in HL courses only. In order to be more comparable to AP credit, it is suggested that policies include BOTH SL and HL coursework with scores of 4 or higher.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 3. A new section is added to chapter 28B.10 RCW to read as follows:
(1) The institutions of higher education must establish a coordinated, evidence-based policy for granting as many undergraduate college credits to students who have earned minimum scores of five on higher level international baccalaureate exams as possible and appropriate.
(2) Credit policy regarding all international baccalaureate exams must be posted on campus web sites effective for the 2018 fall academic term. The institutions of higher education must conduct biennial reviews of their international baccalaureate credit policy and report noncompliance to the appropriate committees of the legislature by November 1st of each year, beginning November 1, 2020.

From email forwarded from Sammamish:

IB coordinators firmly believe that this bill will negatively impact students and families across the state and are asking that those who agree with our position to email Julie Garver, Director of Policy and Academic Affairs, at JGarver@cop.wsu.edu BEFORE 3pm TODAY and ask for the committee to reconsider their policy to:

a) include ALL IB courses (HL and SL at scores of 4 or better)
b) create policy that supports the equitable treatment of AP and IB courses across the state at all institutions
c) include ALL stakeholders in future deliberations
