Ways to Show Mastery of a Subject

Interesting idea - asking kids what they do know about a subject (that didn't get asked on the test).

Or, what was a question you thought the teacher would ask (and the student gives the question and answer).

Pretesting is also a way for students to show mastery. What happens in SPS to students who ace a pretest, showing that they've already mastered that material? And is this what should happen?

I'm glad I didn't have a lot of that as a student. I suffer from blank-page-itis, so "write everything you know" would have been my worst nightmare. Several of my school friends would have rocked it, though.
