Upcoming Seattle School Board Candidate Forums

There is this forum hosted by the Native Action Network and the Urban Native Education Alliance.

I heard there is one coming up hosted by the Alliance for Education and the SE Seattle Education Coalition, probably in October, but I cannot find anything solid at this point.

If you hear of others, please let me know and I will post them. I'm at   sss.westbrook@gmail.com

Good! I hope wherever and whomever organizes, are willing to be fair to all candidates and ask the hard questions:
Mizrahi: What are your ultimate political aspirations?
Clark: Are you able to make a commitment to SHOW UP and do justice to the position, understanding there are health needs that have and may be a challenge?
Smith: Are you aligned with Rankin?
White: How does your husband’s political views impact your vision for the district?
And drum roll please…
Song: Can you PLEASE once and for come clean and put all the election fraud rumors to rest? Were you endorsed by The Stranger because your husband partially owns it?

Fed Up
Fed Up, I think my interviews with candidates will answer some of those questions.

Smith: What individuals have endorsed your candidacy? Why are no individuals listed on your endorsement page. Are you aligned with Rankin?

- More questions, please.

Benjamin-

of course not, because it’s not true. She also has “come clean” about her separation and reconciliation with her non newspaper owning spouse, this is just random mean girl smearing of the q-anon genre we tend to have in SPS politics.

fed up with more
Benjamin and Fed Up, how do you know about anything between Song's husband and The Stranger?

Fed Up with More, I have heard NO ONE ask about Song's personal life so that's kinda random itself.

I don't know anything about him and The Stranger, and I didn't even know they'd gotten back together, which is why I was asking if that was public knowledge....

@ Benjamin, and Melissa, it’s public knowledge in certain circles so I hope Song can be honest and transparent. If she has nothing to hide then this is a non-issue.
@Fed Up More, I am actually a boy and according to you, a mean boy. But I like my candidates to be honest. There is documentation Song has refused to say exactly who and when she notified of her move and before that, the details are murky under the “separation” veil.
@More questions please, yes, Smith website should be updated and she should say where the individual endorsements are. So we can dissect who she is. If we like her supporters then yay! We will support. If we don’t like her supporters then nope! She is bad.
One more question all candidates (and current school board members) should answer on the record: Do you support putting SPS under financial oversight?
To me, that is a deal breaker. The only one that has gone on the record in person and social media supporting SPS giving away budget related decisions is you got it right! Vivian Song. From X (formerly Twitter) 6/26/24 from her public testimony at SPS last year’s budget hearing:
“At this point a better option will be to vote to put the district under financial oversight, a form of insolvency allowed under state law”
No. No. No.
Absolutely no. Call me mean boy all you want.
