NY Times Editorial

Interesting editorial from the NY Times on smaller high schools and their outcomes in NYC. I wonder how comprehensive (electives, sports, etc) they are.

Based on other things I have read about NYC's small high schools (and the small school movement in general), they probably are not very comprehensive. For many people promoting these types of reforms, there is a very deliberate trade-off being made: that is to stop trying to be all things to all students (i.e., large comprehensive high school) and instead have high quality academics (possibly with particular focus on some other areas - this varies by school) for a smaller number of students.
