Program Placement Committee minutes

They came today. I made a public records request for the minutes of the Program Placement Committee and they came today. I have copies of the minutes from meetings ranging from September 2003 to January 2005. They make for vaguely interesting reading. It's very clear that the Committee, as a practice, defers to principals and that the Committee is extremely reactive despite repeatedly stated intentions to plan ahead.

Congratulations on getting so many records back from the district--did you have to fight for them?

Charlie, can you share some of the highlights of their contents with us?

No fighting was required. I simply made the request to Joy Stevens in the General Counsel office and she sent them. I have to pay for the photocopies.

I will follow up with a request for the minutes of the Program Placement Committee meetings since January 2005, particularly since the meetings I asked about occurred in the fall and winter of 2006.

I've had great experience with Joy Stevens - she has always been very pleasant, competent and responsive.
