They use to be truly stellar, of course, that “attracted” the wrong kind of attention from the glass palace (can’t have any excellence anywhere!) so they railroaded the principal and installed a failure.
A friend’s kid withdrew from music when they were told they were “de-colonizing” the music program… i.e. taking it apart in whatever way they could get away with in politically correctly manner to sabotage it.
Looking at the numbers as well as the % of running start participation throughout the district really does tell a story. And, in our experience, our kids’ high school made the RS program incredibly difficult to decode/file paper work/successfully register and enroll. They absolutely DEEMPHASIZED running start and kind of hid it really.
Anyway, long live instrumental music; it is an unbelievably valuable connector of kids, community, and beauty.
