Meetings This Week

Monday - Curriculum and Instruction Committee mtg. - 4-6 p.m.

Among the agenda items: world language credit, credit for online work, update on science and social studies alignment,

Wednesday - Director Sundquist Community Mtg. - 11 am-12:15 pm

Also, Board Work Session on Budget - 4-8 p.m.
This may be a bit of showdown. Will staff have the information that Directors requested at the last meeting? Will staff try to waffle on how much Central Office staff gets cut? Will it be Central over Transportation?

Thursday - Community Meeting on Transportation from 7-8:30 p.m. I don't know where and I don't know how this can be covered in this short a timeframe. I'm thinking they aren't that interested in feedback.

Possible Audit and Finance Committee meeting - TBD

Also, a reminder of forum of public school K-12 teachers talking about challenges, both local and national. Seattle University, 6-8:30 p.m., Student Center, Room 160

re: Transportation meetings
This was in the PowerPoint Transportation presentation for 1/19 Board meeting. I don't know when this was posted online, but 2 of the meetings listed were from 1/18 and 1/19- too late!

The Community meeting that Melissa mentions only says, "scheduled for week of January 27th at Aki Kurose Middle School: 7:00 –8:30 pm."
Ah, which day???

Questions?HOW TO FIND OUT MORE AND HOW TO COMMENT ON THE PROPOSAL:

I'm interested in the C & I meeting this evening.

They have, once again, put something on the agenda about setting a timetable for reviewing and revising policies. They keep deferring this work, and it is the primary work of the Board.

Look back through the record of this Board's plans to make a comprehensive review and revision of the policies and you'll see a rich and varied history of delay, inaction, and deferral. They schedule it out into the future and then, when the day for the work actually comes they re-schedule it for further out.

It would be funny if it weren't so sad and pathetic.

Per Seattle Parent:
Seattle Council Parent Teacher Student Association, Seattle Special Education PTSA, Alternative Schools Coalition, Community and Parents for Public Schools, and APP Advisory Committee: January 19th10:15 am.

Yes, they announced this meeting with less than 24 hours notice. Called it a "courtesy debriefing." I couldn't go, but I believe it was just at the "inform" level of "community engagement." Sorry about all the quotes...

Isn't C&I policy revision Director Martin-Morris' Big Thing? That is what I have heard. So what has he been doing, already? I don't mean it to be a rhetorical question. Maybe someone better connected knows. If so, please enlighten me.
