This and That in Seattle Schools

I have seen on Facebook questions about middle and high school schedules. Just saw this at the SPS website:

Students and families will be able to view middle and high school student schedules beginning the morning of Friday, Sept. 9.  Learn more about creating a parent or guardian Source account.

Students should wait until at least the first day of school to request schedule changes. Students have up to 10 days after school begins to request changes to their schedule.

Once school begins, please contact your school counselor to make changes or corrections.

The revolving door at SPS continues. Ashley Davies, who was the long-time enrollment person at SPS (but then elevated to Executive Director of Operations), is leaving and guess who is the interim replacement? Marni Campbell. Man, the number of jobs in SPS that Campbell has had makes me dizzy but I guess she had to land someplace.

As well, long-time head of budget, JoLynn Berge is gone at the end of this week. No word on her replacement.

When and how will I be notified on when school starts?

We will post information on our website and social media accounts TwitterFacebookInstagram. We will also send direct messages to families by email, text, and phone messages.

Would strike days have to be made up?

Yes. A new school calendar would have to be negotiated and adjusted so students have 180 days in school. This decision would be made once agreement on the contract is reached. Under the current calendar, the last day of school is scheduled for Monday, June 26.

The district still has September 12th as the first day of school for Kindergarten and Pre-K. We'll see.
