You're Going to Drink Coffee Anyway - Go to Starbucks TOMORROW!

From Stand for Children (and for our SPS teachers):

On October 5th, DonorsChoose.org through a generous gift from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will distribute free $10 gift cards at local Starbucks stores. These cards can be redeemed and applied to local teacher requests for needed classroom materials and student projects. In addition to the free $10 gift cards, donations to support teachers classroom requests can be made directly through the DonorsChoose.org website.
Please visit your local Starbucks this Wednesday and donate to your favorite teacher. Click here for additional information on how to redeem your gift card.

Important: Gift cards will be applied to projects on a first-come, first-served basis until our grant is spent, so be sure to apply yours soon!

Among the King County Schools in this group are Seattle's SBOC, Hawthorne, Thurgood Marshall and Beacon Hill.

(Please, this is to help kids in our Seattle schools so no comments about Stand or Gates Foundation or Starbucks - except to say thank you.)

THANK YOU,  Stand for Children, Gates Foundation and Starbucks.

i stopped by 3 starbucks this morning, my wife is a teacher at Kimball and needs the funds for age appropriate books for her kids which they can take home for reading and return once they have finished. Many of her students are FRL and dont have the resources to purchase. I plan on visiting a few more Starbucks later today. Remember no purchase necessary.
Something good from the Gates Foundation, that will directly affect the classroom.

Thank you to Gates Foundation and Starbucks. We've applied our gift cards already and are looking forward to full funding our school's DonorsChoose.org projects.

The Starbucks downtown at Fourth and Union is telling people they have to buy a pound of Morning Joe coffee to get a card! I tried to tell them that's incorrect information - didn't work.

Luckily, there are a lot of other Starbucks. Guess I won't be going back to that one.

In some places you have to ask for the DonorsChoose gift card. When my spouse went this morning he brought our kid with him so the barista saw that as a signal to offer the card -- my spouse had NO idea of the offer when he ordered. When I went into another on my own I requested a card when asked "anything else I can get for you?"

Also StandForChildren, thanks!

Starbucks is a union bustng corporation. Gates Foundation supports GMO foods and Monsanto not to mention charter schools.

Didn't your mom tell you not to take candy from strangers?

No thanks.
