There's just one in Seattle for three applicants on January 13th at South Seattle Community College.  I am hoping to attend all of the Puget Sound area forums as well as the one for Green Dot because I'd like to see how an established out-of-state group does their presentation.

From the Washington State Charter School Commission:

"Charter applicants will be given 10 minutes for presentations, after which the floor will be open for 30 minutes of public comment. Community members who wish to comment publicly will be
limited to 2 minutes each in order to accommodate as many participants as possible. Speakers will be randomly selected in a lottery prior to the meeting. Individuals or groups wishing to provide written comment may send their statements to the Washington State Charter School Commission, P.O. Box 40996 Olympia, WA 98504-0996. Comments may also be hand delivered to the public forums. Written comments are limited to one page. (12 point font)

Hmmm... public comment limited to two minutes? written public comment limited to one page?

Really? Why? What's the upside and what's the downside?
Charlie, two minutes was decided upon to give as many people as possible a chance to give verbal testimony and the one page limit for written comment was chosen so that we would not get large documents that would be overwhelming to share and review. In addition we want to have a clear focus on the specific charter applications and not whether charters should exist in our state or not.
