Bank Robbery Leads to Shelter-in-Place

I was away from my computer but this has come thru on the SPS Twitter feed two hours ago: We have five nearby schools sheltering in place: Eckstein, Bryant, Thornton Creek, View Ridge, Wedgwood.

SPD was searching for a male bank robber near 7500 blk 35th Ave NE.  He may have been armed.

The shelter-in-place was lifted fairly quickly after that.

As a wedgwood parent, I was very disturbed that I stumbled on news of this through a neighborhood listserv, with no communication from the school until an hour after the school day had ended. It seems to me that when an event like this happens, parents should be notified, a simple email or auto message.

I'm not sure what you're referring to... I received an email "Wedgwood Weekly Special Principal Edition" at 2:01pm informing families about the shelter in place.

Since I knew about it before school was out, I was able to talk to my son about the events of the day when I picked him up from school.
