Legislative Youth Advisory Council Deadline Extended

From the Lt. Governor's office:

Lt. Governor Brad Owen is once again encouraging all interested Washington youth to apply for positions with the Legislative Youth Advisory Council (LYAC).

The 22-member council, comprised of youth ages 14 to 18, advises the Legislature on key issues of interest to Washington youth. Members serve two-year terms and, if eligible, may be reappointed for additional terms.

“This is a very action- oriented and diverse group of bright young people,” Lt. Gov. Owen said. “Each year they tackle a broad range of issues that are important to youth, take positions on legislative bills and work closely with legislators on seeing these bills through the legislative process. I would strongly encourage any interested youth to apply.”

Applications are due
June 25 July 2.
The lieutenant governor makes the final appointments to the panel based on the recommendations of LYAC membership. The 2012 application form is available on the LYAC web site at http://www.k12.wa.us/SocialStudies/LYAC/ as well as on the lieutenant governor's web site.

For more information, please contact lyac@leg.wa.gov or (360) 725-6039.
