Indirectly impacting Seattle Schools this week (because there are only three weeks to go before the election), we find yet abother op-ed in today's Times in favor of charters.
Have there been ANY anti-charter op-eds in the Times?

Op-ed: Approve Initiative 1240 to allow public charter schools

Well, I know one was sent in but given how much they liked charters, I doubt it.

Look, they ran a picture of a 1240 supporter with posters of Yes in the background on the Letters to the Editor page.

They just sold themselves advertising for Rob McKenna to show it can be done and now they want us to believe there's a 'strict" line between editorial and reporting. Sorry kids, go peddle that somewhere else.

After this election, my door is closed to reporters from the Times. I respect Brian Rosenthal and Linda Shaw but I cannot believe that their reporting will not somehow be comprised by the editorial side.

The Times' actions speak louder than any words they speak.

I know a couple others were sent in, but I'm sure they won't show up either.

Luckily I got to vent just the other day when an unfortunate salesperson from the Blethen Times called about my free! week! of newspaper! delivery! I believe I started with the Rob McKenna fiasco and moved on to the charter rah-rah show they've been running without even trying to balance their coverage with the cons about charters (no pun intended, even though there are both kinds of cons where charters are concerned) and that the Seattle Times was the print equivalent of Fox News - unfair and unbalanced. After I finished, the sales person had the temerity to ask if that meant I didn't want the paper. *headdesk*

In Sept. I complained directly to Lynne Varner about the relentless pro charter editorials running in the Times. She emailed me links to a couple of critiques of charters that ran last winter!

She asked me to forward links from this forum in SUPPORT of charters, TFA or general reforms for education. That shows you where the Seattle Times is.

@S parent,
So this blog serves as the balance to the Seattle Times editorial boards bias for pro-charter, pro-TFA or pro-ed reform editorial pieces? That's a serious response from Lynn Varner?

Melissa and Charlie, what's your circulation? What's your ad revenue? Is it up there with the Seattle Times?
