In the Category of: It Never Hurts to Ask

Hey Kids,

Well, I'm off to the Obama/Murray rally with all the other masses.

Did I mention that I got a press credential to get in? Yeah, I guess Patty Murray's office thinks bloggers are press (just like McGinn office)?

So miracle number one happened - I got a press pass. Let's go for miracle number two - hoping there's a Q&A with Obama. What can I ask him about....oh, I know! Education.

P.S. Tell your kids my story. Not because it's great or anything but more about the power of persistence. You can lose out on a lot by not just asking or standing up for something.

You go girl! I can't think of a better member of the press to be there.

I love your persistent nature. I also love the manner in which nothing...I mean nothing will dampen your voice.

Good for you.

I went last time at the arena- and it was interesting to see everyone sit on their hands when Nickels spoke.
Emeraldkity, I was at that, too (up in the rafters). It was quiet when Nickels spoke.

Fun fact: last time a President was on the campus of UW was 1961 and it was JFK.

Another fun fact: the Wedgwood View blog is reporting that Obama's mother lived in Wedgwood in the 1950s and went to Eckstein Middle School. (Obama is speaking right now at a private backyard gathering at a house in Wedgwood, not far from PCC on 40th).

I was also at the fundraiser at the Showbox- the previous Nov- but he didn't sing ( and don't remember when Obama was @ Garfield- it was to support Maria Cantwell)- the Showbox Sodo, was an all ages event, lots of high school kids .
Im am a little disappointed with him- but will be interested to read the reviews.

Well yeah, Melissa, so you got cleared by the White House for a press pass. That doesn't mean you rate one for an SPS press conference (that nobody went to.)

The Seattle times reported that Stanley Ann's family rented an apt in Columbia City in 1955, although she was on the school records as attending Eckstein ( she later moved to Mercer Island)

Im glad I don't have to go anywhere near the UW today.
